Real Facts about WTC Explosions

“Truthers” often insist that the fact that people in the area heard what sounded like explosions to be proof that there were explosives placed in the World Trade Center on 9/11/01.

However, as we see here, there are other possibilities for the explosive sounds heard before the buildings collapsed.

It seems to me- and to this source  as well- that an acre of concrete slamming into the floor below it might be a tad on the loud side.

Debunking911.com further points out that steel bolts snapping under extreme tension could also make a “popping” or “explosive” sound.

Here is one more possibility that “truthers” don’t mention: transformers and other electrical equipment (source).  We all know there were intense fires in the Twin Towers and WTC 7 on September 11, 2001, and this quote from here makes an excellent point: “These buildings, as most office buildings in America had transformers and other high voltage electrical equipment.” Hint to 911 “Truth” Movement: transformers and other electrical equipment DON’T LIKE HEAT.

Of course, the “truthers” like to take quotes out of context.  Take the following quote by Jeff Birnbaum from Debunking911.com, for instance, which they found at a conspiracy site: “This is a deceptive quote from a conspiracy theory site…

‘When we got to about 50 feet from the South Tower, we heard the most eerie sound that you would ever hear. A high-pitched noise and a popping noise made everyone stop. We all looked up. At the point, it all let go…

…There was an explosion and the whole top leaned toward us and started coming down. I stood there for a second in total awe, and then said, “What the F###?” I honestly thought it was Hollywood.'”

Debunking911.com provides the following quote, showing what Jeff Birnbaum REALLY said: “When we got to about 50 ft from the South Tower, we heard the most eerie sound that you would ever hear. A high-pitched noise and a popping noise made everyone stop. We all looked up. At the point, it all let go. The way I see it, it had to be the rivets. The building let go, there was an explosion and the whole top leaned toward us and started coming down.”

We also have this quote from Debunking911.com as well:  “I decided to walk closer to the South Tower. I was about 100 ft from the South Tower looking up when the bodies started coming down. I counted 35. They were just piling up on the Marriott Marquis hotel. They were 10 to 15 thick piling up one after another. You could hear them hitting on the side streets. They were hitting cars, and there were lots of explosions…

I have seen plenty of death in my life, and burned bodies and so forth, but this was incredible. As I was looking up, I saw a body coming down, hit a lamppost and explode like a paint ball. Its arms and legs got torn off and the head ripped off and bounced right by me.'”

Just because something sounds like an explosion doesn’t mean there were explosives there.  The “truthers” are simply making assumptions, while forgetting the old adage of why one should never assume- of course the first three letters of assume accurately describe what members of the 911 “Truth” Movement are making of themselves.
